Collection: Citrus That Can Be Grown In Zone 8b
The following citrus varieties are hardy enough to be grown in ground in Zone 8b: Hardy to about 15°F (-9°C) with some winter protection. Extensive winter protection may be required until the trees are established.
Many factors influence cold-hardiness in citrus. Among them are the age of the tree, minimum temperature, freeze duration, conditions before the freeze, soil moisture and wind protection. Citrus are hardier when plants are healthy, well-watered and fully dormant when cold arrives. Temperatures listed are approximate and indicate where fully dormant, mature plants begin to experience significant damage when planted in the ground.
If you are growing your citrus in containers It is widely recommended they be moved indoors when temperatures drop below 40°F.
